Wakkanai to Otaru

Wakkanai to Otaru

I also made the trip out to Cape Noshappu. There were a few less people here. Offshore is Rishiri Fuji, which I've long dreamed of. From its summit you should be able to look down on the sea in every direction. The whole volcano is an island.

The vast Sarobetsu Plain and Rishiri Island.

The Sarobetsu Plain and Rishiri Island in the lingering sunset. No words are needed to describe this view. Along with Shiretoko Pass and the Beniya wildflower garden, it was one of the places that moved me most.

A line of wind turbines across the plain. The sense of perspective is nice.

I couldn't take photos around Rumoi because of heavy rain. I somehow made it to Otaru and headed straight for a hot spring ♪

Otaru is lined with retro warehouses.

Boarding the Shin Nihonkai Ferry.

Leaving Otaru port. Saying goodbye to Hokkaido. I'm sorry to leave, but I really miss Nagoya.

Seagulls follow the ship. They seem to be after food. They had a really nasty look in their eyes. They'll even take the bread right out of your hand.
