Day 9 (12 Sep) — The indoor pool

to Valleyview

Today we said goodbye to Edmonton and began heading north toward the far north at last, but first we went back to the mall we visited yesterday to swim in the indoor pool. The rink where the concert was held yesterday had been completely cleared of equipment, and customers were elegantly skating on the ice.

This is the indoor pool. Not too many people, not too few; the slides only had queues of a few minutes. We relaxed in the wave pool, jacuzzi and so on. At the back of the left photo is a bungee jump said to have the highest drop of any indoors in the world. Just before someone jumps, a siren sounds through the whole building, and they dive with everyone's eyes on them. If you chicken out and don't jump, boos are guaranteed.

Leaving the city where we had recovered from tent life, we headed for Valleyview and tonight's lodging, the High Valley Motor Inn. The clouds didn't look good, and it rained several times.

There was a restaurant near the motel, but to save money we went to a supermarket in town and bought ready-made food. The 6-piece cheese that's essential with beer in Japan was sold as 12-piece cheese in Canada.

Good night...
